National - Advance Trainings

Attendance at nationally organized trainings are the backbone of the US Naval Sea Cadet program.  They normally run during both the summer and winter school breaks, cover a wide variety of skills, and are held at locations across the USA.

What Trainings are Available?

Upcoming National Training events are posted here.  Costs vary, and are specified at that site together with prerequisites such as rate, on-line courses or previous trainings, physical condition etc.

Applying for Training

IMPORTANT! Popular training billets become filled within days of posting on the above site.  Do not wait to apply once you find a training you wish to attend!
  1. Using the link above, verify that you have sufficient rate or other pre-requisites specified.  If in doubt, contact our unit CO directly.

  5. Send the completed forms to CO at the address posted on the contact page, and include payment.  Alternatively you may scan the completed form and email it to him;, and send payment separately via mail.  Payment must be in the form of a money order, made payable to "USNSCC" only not Akron Battalion. BE AWARE many training's have online payment options. I highly suggest using this method when at all possible.
  6. Confirmation of application will normally be provided to you within a couple of days via email.
  7. Once your application has been accepted by the COTC (Commanding Officer Training Contingent) running the training you will be notified through our CO.  You will receive all necessary info, which will include the following at a minimum:
    • Welcome Letter
    • Sea Bag List
    • Transportation Information

Attending Trainings

Once you have been accepted for a training you will be sent information about attendance, including the check-in procedure.

It is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL that you READ and FOLLOW the specified instructions for check-in, since these procedures vary widely from location to location and training to training.  It is not unheard of for cadets who arrive and have not followed instructions to be denied check-in.  You have been warned!

One feature common to EVERY training is that the cadet must bring their Service Jacket with them; it will be returned to them at the end of the training.  The cadet should obtain their Service Jacket at the drill immediately preceding the training.  If this is not possible for any reason, contact the CO as soon as possible so alternate provision can be made. Upon completion of the training, the service jacket will be returned unopened at the next drill.
